The Spa
The state-of-the-art 12,400 square foot spa designed by Sarah Garcia, a renowned Dominican architect, features 10 tranquil therapy room and three outdoor oceanfront treatment gazebos set over a tropical pond with soothing waterfalls. The indoor treatment rooms include two private couples therapy rooms with couple jacuzzies and terraces facing the ocean.
When designing the spa, Garcia studied the ancient practice of Feng Shui. The name "Bagua" comes from a concept of Feng Shui. The Bagua is traditionally represented in the shape of an octagon. Each facet of the octagon is called a "gua" and is assigned at least one of life's aspects, such as Prosperity, Family, Career Path and Life Path, etc.
The Bagua Spa at Casa Colonial was designed according to the guidelines of the Bagua to create a serene sanctuary where guests can find harmony and clarity.
Indigenous Therapies
The Bagua Spa, which is set amidst the golden beaches and lush mountain ranges of the Dominican republic 's glittering Amber Coast , features unique therapies that incorporate minerals and tropical plant extracts indigenous to the area. The Dominican Republic 's natural and healing elements including gemstone Amber, Royal Bee Jelly, Honey and Ocean Water characterize the Bagua Spa experience.
The Amber Coast is home to the richest deposits of amber in the world. Amber, qhich is a stone comprised of petrified pine tree sap that is millions of years old, has been known to have strong healing powers and is able to absorb negative energy to help the body heal itself. A virtual youth elixir, an ingredient in Amber's resin is found to slow down the aging process. It is a powerful anti oxidant and anti bacterial agent, augmenting mental claruty and alleviating depression. For centuries it has been used in amulets and jewelry for protection. Amber carries a negative ion charge improving resistance to stress and neutralizes harmful radioactive waves.
The island's Honey Bees contribute to our Healing and Beauty rituals. Royal Jelly, rich in amino acids, and minerals has been hailed for its rejuvenating effects. Propolis boosts the immune system and honey softens and beautifies the skin. Significantly, 'The Bee' is 'Honeymade', the Nectar of the gods. For centuries newly wed couples union would sip on Honeymeade to ensure the promise fertility.
The ocean is the source of life, and the source of spa. The ocean's chemical composition mirrors our own fluid body and we harness its nutrients to replenish ourselves.

Bagua Cleansing Ritual - 75 minutes
To eliminate stress and enhance well being we invite you to participate in Bagua's ablution therapy. Applying a herbal linament to draw impurities from the slin, relax in the Sauna for 5-15 minutes while core temperature is elevated. Stay comfortable. Your body is the guide.
Stepping out of the Sauna, rinse with cold to tepid water. Dry and cover yourself. Stay warm. Relax for 15 minutes and enjoy a tisane of detox tea.
After application of mineral rich sea salt, return to inhalation/steam room. Repeat body heat elevation. Exit. Rinse and relax.
Apply nourishing sea clay and repeat as before. At conclusion of treatment experience the blitz, a torrent of scintillating, exhilarating water, leaving you revitalized and with energy to burn.
Botanical Bath anf Massage - 25-50 minutes
A hydrotherapy Bath with selected herbal additives followed by specific point massage.
Salt and Gem Exfoliation - 50 minutes
Crushed amber resin and ocean salts are combined to sharpen sensory nerve perception and to improve circulation. Leaves the skin sensuosly soft.
Vichy Rain Therapy - 25 minutes
Cascading water stimulates the skin's thermoreceptors creating energy while promoting circulation and detoxification. An invigorating and fortifying treatment.
Marine Feast - 80 minutes
The skin's ability to absorb micro elements is maximized as a warm water Thalasso Bath encourages the penetration of marine ions. Followed by a marine mud body wrap.
Hot Stone Massage - 80 minutes
Deeply relaxing stone massage combines heat and pressure to ease tension and restore balance.
Walk-in-balance - 25-50 minutes
Aromatic Towel cleansing of the foot is followed woth Ancient Pressure Point Massage.
Bagua's Classical Massage - 50-80 minutes
Tempered to the individual's muscle tone, this rhythmic and thorough massage addresses muscular aches and pain.
Bagua's Deep Tissue - 50-80 minutes
